Q3 production and cost test • 2026-11-04

Base target: $28 / p=50% prob

Biggest risk

Q2 all-in sustaining cost was $2,151 per ounce, above the full-year guidance range of $1,750–$1,900 per ounce; management expects full-year cost near the range's upper end. Cost inflation or weaker production could narrow margins, while drill results may not translate into economic reserves [#PR-2026-08-05] [#PR-2026-09-24].

Invalidation

Break below $20 or thesis failure.

What would change my mind?

Q2 generated $130 million of free cash flow, and management maintained 2026 production and capital guidance while expecting lower second-half unit costs. Delivery on that cost path and reserve conversion at Waihi could support upside [#PR-2026-08-05] [#PR-2026-09-24].

Commentary

Recent coverage centers on Wharekirauponga drilling, but Q3 results have not yet been released, so there is no post-results reaction or revision signal. Numeric sentiment fields are unavailable-data placeholders, not measured readings. Catalyst probabilities, price moves and priced-in estimates are judgmental. The deterministic prior is positive but has low evidence quality (0.24), high uncertainty (0.818) and little thesis change (0.09), supporting cautious monitoring.

Q3 production and cost test
OceanaGold scheduled Q3 results for November 4 and a call for November 5 [#PR-EARNINGS-2026-10-06]. Management previously expected Q3 gold production near Q2's 138,800 ounces and lower all-in sustaining cost than Q2's $2,151 per ounce. Delivery against that plan—not an assumed earnings beat—is the key test [#PR-2026-08-05]. Source: https://investors.oceanagold.com/2026-08-05-OceanaGold-Reports-Second-Quarter-2026-Results

Waihi resource and mine-plan update
The company plans a Waihi District technical report in January 2027 with updated reserves, resources and a mine plan. September Wharekirauponga drilling supports potential resource conversion, while a larger processing plant and concurrent Martha–Wharekirauponga mining remain under evaluation rather than approved economics [#PR-2026-09-24].
