Trio-Tech International price-consensus-eps-surprise-chart | Trio-Tech International Quote Chairman and CEO S.W. Yong said that fiscal 2026 benefited from strong demand for semiconductor reliability testing, including AI-related chip testing, as customers expanded advanced-computing programs and diversified testing activity across Southeast Asia. Management also highlighted TRT's expansion beyond AI into automotive semiconductor applications. A recently announced three-year production burn-in contract with a new global IDM customer represents Trio-Tech's second EV semiconductor production burn-in customer. The company also pointed to its expanded Malaysian capacity as an important part of its growth strategy. Trio-Tech added approximately 104,000 square feet of space in Perai, Penang, to support rising demand from a North American customer. The sharp increase in SBS revenues was the principal driver of Trio-Tech's top-line growth. For fiscal 2026, SBS revenues increased 98.6% to $49 million, supported by stronger AI and automotive semiconductor testing demand, while IE revenues rose 15.3% to $13.6 million. However, the stronger revenue performance did not translate proportionately into profitability. Overall gross margin for the year fell to 16.6% from 25.1%, while higher general and administrative and selling expenses also weighed on operating results. General and administrative expenses increased 18.8% and selling expenses rose 17.9%. TRT also reported increased customer concentration. Its three largest customers accounted for about 57.6% of fiscal 2026 revenues compared with 41% in fiscal 2025, with one major U.S.-based SBS customer accounting for 38.7% of consolidated revenues. The increase was primarily linked to new service business resulting from the customer's geographic sourcing realignment. Trio-Tech expects continued demand for semiconductor back-end testing across AI, high-performance computing and automotive applications. Of previously announced burn-in board orders totaling $14.2 million, about $7.9 million remained to be delivered at fiscal year-end, while the company received an additional order of approximately $1.5 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2027. TRT also expects production volumes at its expanded Malaysian facility to increase progressively beginning in the second quarter of fiscal 2027. IE entered the new fiscal year with first-quarter bookings of approximately $4.6 million, and management anticipates year-over-year growth in the segment while pursuing opportunities in data centers and industrial energy-efficiency applications. Trio-Tech Reports Fiscal 2025 Third Quarter Financial Results and Announces Share Repurchase Program
VAN NUYS, Calif., May 13, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Trio-Tech International (NYSE MKT: TRT), a comprehensive provider of semiconductor back-end solutions and a global value-added supplier of electronic equipment, today announced its financial results for the third quarter that ended on March 31, 2025, and that the Company’s Board of Directors has authorized a share repurchase program to repurchase up to $1.0 million of its issued and outstanding common stock over a period of 2 years. Trio-Tech International Chairman and CEO S.W. Yong’s Comments: "We continued to strengthen our balance sheet in the third quarter, even amid revenue softness across both business segments. In our Semiconductor Back-End Solutions (SBS) segment, demand for testing services in China declined due to the broader market pressures and ongoing trade tensions. However, we are seeing encouraging signs of demand shifting to regions like Malaysia and Thailand, where our established operations position us well for future growth as customers seek alternatives for testing solutions. Revenue in our Industrial Electronics (IE) segment was temporarily affected by supply chain delays, which we expect to ease in the coming quarters. We remain confident in the long-term growth potential of the business. During the quarter, IE secured over $1.2 million in follow-on orders for POS components, further validating our role as a trusted provider of high-performance, customized electronic solutions. "While macroeconomic conditions remain uncertain, we are proactively aligning our cost structure and operational capacity to current demand. Our focus remains on preserving financial flexibility and ensuring we are well-positioned to scale efficiently as market conditions improve. At the same time, the share repurchase program announced today reflects the Board’s and management’s confidence in our strategy for long-term profitable growth and cash flow generation and our commitment to delivering long-term value to our shareholders." Fiscal 2025 Third Quarter Financial Results Total revenue was $7.4 million, compared to $10.4 million a year ago. SBS revenue was $5.4 million, compared to $7.7 million a year ago. IE revenue was $2.0 million, compared to $2.7 million a year ago. Gross margin was $2.0 million, or 27% of revenue, compared to $2.7 million, or 26% of revenue a year ago.
