Q2 revenue declined 7%, Networked Solutions declined 17%, and backlog was slightly below its year-earlier level. Better margins may not offset prolonged deployment delays or weaker order conversion. Itron Q2 release

What would change my mind?

Q2 non-GAAP EPS of $1.59 exceeded Itron's prior $1.25–1.35 outlook despite revenue of $563 million landing within its $560–570 million range. Management raised full-year non-GAAP EPS guidance to $6.30–6.50, versus its earlier $5.75–6.25 range. Recurring-revenue growth and improved product mix could sustain earnings power. Commentary

The Q2 print paired stronger margins and earnings guidance with declining revenue. A September secondary article reported a post-print gain, but that is stale relative to the October 7 price anchor and does not establish the immediate earnings-day reaction. Current analyst target revisions, options positioning and reliable social-sentiment measures are unavailable; the zero sentiment fields denote missing data, not neutral observations.

Margin strength versus falling revenue
2026-10-27
Q2 revenue fell 7% year over year, but adjusted gross margin rose to 41.4% and annual recurring revenue grew 21%. Whether mix and efficiency gains persist without revenue recovery will shape earnings confidence. Itron Q2 release [#SEC-8K-2026-07-28]

Long-term Catalysts

Months to a year

Networked Solutions deployment recovery
2027-06-30
Networked Solutions revenue fell 17% in Q2 on project timing and lower volumes, while quarter-end backlog was $4.4 billion versus $4.5 billion a year earlier. Risks

Backlog conversion, customer order rescheduling and demand timing remain execution risks. Itron Q2 release [#SEC-8K-2026-07-28]
Networked Solutions deployment timing and lower volumes could continue to depress revenue. Itron Q2 release
Q2 free cash flow declined to $81 million from $91 million, primarily because of higher tax payments and lower interest income. Itron Q2 release
Tariffs, foreign exchange, restructuring execution and acquisition-related costs could pressure results. [#SEC-8K-2026-07-28]
