The $0.52 EPS result missed published consensus estimates, while CRE-related provisioning rose and merger costs complicate earnings quality. Management reduced full-year loan-growth guidance to 1%–2% from 3%–4% after loan payoffs, according to the earnings-call transcript. Post-print analyst changes were mixed: Piper Sandler raised its target from $27 to $28, while JP Morgan lowered its target from $29 to $28; both retained Neutral ratings. Analyst-revision report.

Commentary

FHB closed at $25.34 on October 23 versus $26.13 on October 22, a 3.0% earnings-day decline; the supplied October 27 anchor was $25.27, so the decline had broadly held. Historical prices. An October 26 analyst-revision report identifies one $1 target increase and one $1 decrease, both to $28 with Neutral ratings. This limited follow-up is not evidence of a broader positive consensus; providers also disagree on the pre-print EPS consensus. No reliable social, options, short-interest or employee measures were supplied; zero values in the sentiment object denote unavailable data, not neutral readings.

Q3 earnings digestion and CRE credit review
2026-11-30
Q3 diluted EPS was $0.52, below published consensus estimates that vary by provider from $0.56 to $0.59. Net interest margin rose five basis points to 3.30%, but provision expense increased to $20.3 million from $5.6 million, driven partly by a $12.5 million charge-off on one commercial real estate loan and other downgrades. Whether losses remain isolated could move shares. [#SEC-8K-2026-10-23] Company earnings release. Consensus reporting, alternate estimate.

Long-term Catalysts

Months to a year

TriCo closing and integration economics
2026-12-31
The proposed all-stock combination could broaden First Hawaiian's franchise, but deal completion and integration benefits are not assured. The joint proxy estimates existing First Hawaiian holders would own approximately 65% of the combined company, making dilution and execution central to the longer-term case.
