Third-quarter results are due October 29, not October 22 • 2026-10-29

Base target: $37 / p=50% prob

Biggest risk

Second-quarter volume declined 8% year over year, and management linked part of Aviation and Marine strength to elevated fuel-price volatility. A normalization could weaken profits or the raised outlook. No third-quarter print is available yet. [#SEC-8K-2026-07-23]

Invalidation

Break below $29 or thesis failure.

What would change my mind?

The second-quarter release reported record gross profit, $1.29 adjusted diluted EPS and a higher full-year adjusted EPS range. If October 29 results demonstrate that Aviation, Marine and Land gains persist without unusually favorable fuel volatility, normalized earnings may merit more credit. [#SEC-8K-2026-07-23]

Commentary

This is a pre-earnings monitoring view, despite the T+1 queue label. The company scheduled the third-quarter release for October 29, so no credible October 22 earnings surprise, post-release price reaction or post-print analyst revision can be assessed. The $36.50 anchor predates that release. Social, options, short-interest and employee measures are unavailable; zero placeholders in the sentiment object do not indicate neutral readings. EVENT2026-10-29
Third-quarter results are due October 29, not October 22
The company's October 15 announcement says it plans to release third-quarter results after the October 29 market close, followed by a 5 p.m. ET call. The October 22 post-earnings queue trigger is premature: no third-quarter result, surprise or guidance revision is established by the available evidence. Test whether raised guidance survives less favorable fuel markets
The second-quarter SEC-filed earnings release raised 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to $3.20–$3.40 from $2.65–$2.85. Aviation and Marine profits benefited in part from elevated fuel prices and volatility, while reported volume fell 8% year over year. The October 29 report can clarify how durable those gains are. The second-quarter release attributed improved adjusted Land operating income to portfolio transformation and reported a $14 million share repurchase and a 15% quarterly dividend increase. Sustained Land improvement could support earnings quality, but the evidence does not yet establish its durability. [#SEC-8K-2026-07-23]

Risks

Aviation and Marine second-quarter profits benefited from elevated fuel prices and volatility, conditions that may not persist; second-quarter reported volume fell 8% year over year. [#SEC-8K-2026-07-23]
Land portfolio improvement needs confirmation in subsequent results before it can be treated as durable. [#SEC-8K-2026-07-23]
The September 17 filing says Michael Kasbar's departure as executive chairman was not due to disagreement with the company; the board transition still warrants routine monitoring, not an inferred operating dispute. [#8-K-2026-09-17]
The scheduled October 22 earnings trigger conflicts with the company's announced October 29 release date; treating this as a completed earnings follow-up would create a false surprise or market-reaction narrative. [#PR-EARNINGS-2026-10-15]
